Why is baptism so significant?

In order to make things understandable we simplify ideas. In doing so we often lose the essence of what is really taking place. Let’s change that, join us this Sunday as we jump into deeper waters.

Baptism is:
An outward sign of inward confession
A rite of passage into the Church
Connect with all believers

2 examples of the immediacy of baptism in scripture:
Philip & Ethiopian – Acts 8:26-40
Peter & Cornelius – Acts 10

Story/Counter-Story movement in scripture:
Fall –> Covenant
Curses –> Blessing
Pharaoh –> Moses
Empire –> Remnant
Adam –> Jesus

Romans 5:12-19
The writers of scripture understood that death and life were paths, not just states.

There is death in your life, but there is also life in your death.
