Permission Granted: Doubt Your Beliefs
Throughout our faith journey, sometimes we feel as though we do not have permission to doubt. There are questions we think are off limits to ask and ideas that we don’t allow ourselves to explore. This makes us feel like we are outside the boundaries of what our faith allows. However, should would we really want to keep doubt out of our minds or does doubt actually help our faith? For the next 5 weeks we will see how understanding doubt is important to our faith.
Today we’re going to look at what takes place when we have the courage to doubt our beliefs.
Emmaus is the place we go to in order to escape. Emmaus is whatever we do or wherever we go to make ourselves forget that the world holds nothing sacred: that even the wisest and bravest and loveliest decay and die; that even the noblest ideas that men have had- ideas about love and freedom and justice- have always in time been twisted out of shape by selfish men for selfish ends. ~ Frederich Buechner
We’d love to hear your story and how God is working in your life.
