For many of us the holiday season can feel rote and uninspired. We hang the same decorations and give the same gifts to the same people each year. We rarely feel amazed and we long for wonder. Our schedules are filled with things in the hope of renewing a sense of awe. But the feeling is fleeting. In this 4-week series (December 2-23) we’ll discover that wonder is not manufactured in a moment, but found in a person. Be amazed with who Jesus is and find yourself filled with wonder!

Wonder is found in smallness. When you are the biggest then everything your size and bigger is a formidable opponent, but when we see that God is mighty and we are not, even big obstacles seem small.

We see things not as they are, but as we are.

We call ourselves people of faith, but we’re often just people of belief for faith requires action.

People of faith seize opportunity when others only see obstacles.

Your lack of faith becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy for God’s inactivity in your life.

We give analysis when we were asked for obedience

People with a Mighty God mindset aren’t just praying about what God could do, they’re praising in advance because they know he’s going to act.

As you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you.

Questions for Reflection:

  • In what ways have you lost your sense of wonder?

  • Who do you look to for guidance and counsel?

  • How does the reality that Jesus is already here change the way you see your everyday circumstances?

  • Have there been times in your life when you sought wonder in the new?

  • Does the truth that Jesus doesn’t advise you to a better decision, but loves you to a new level, change your view of God? Of youself?
