House Party: The Lost Son
Fun. Real. Authentic. Community. Would you want to be a part of that? Me too. Who wouldn’t? For the next few weeks we are going to talk about not just how we can be a part of it, but how we can create it.
The Bible describes the followers of Christ as sheep. Sheep need help to survive, they are really defenseless and not aggressive, thus they remain in groups. Additionally sheep need guiding, nurturing, and feeding. Sometimes we are sheep that have gone astray, lost in the world. In today’s message we see the heart of Jesus as he tells a parable of the lost sheep to the Pharisees who are criticizing him for eating and fellowshipping with tax collectors and sinners. Jesus is encouraging the Pharisees to see the Kingdom of Heaven from his perspective. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who tends to the sheep (us) and if one is lost he leaves the 99 sheep to find the one lost sheep. In fact, the Good Shepherd calls to his sheep and his sheep know his voice. The Good Shepherd would lay down his life to protect his sheep. It demonstrates his great love for us. In fact, the Lord says all of heaven rejoices when he finds the one loss sheep. He calls his friends and family over to celebrate the finding of the lost sheep. God is seeking the lost to bring into the fold.
We’d love to hear your story and how God is working in your life.
