Twilight: Walking in the Darkness

Every year I get frustrated when we are no longer in Daylight Savings Time. It’s 5:30, and it’s not supposed to be dark yet; but the sun has already set and the light has diminished. So we do what we always do, we accept the darkness and adapt.

But while it’s pointless to struggle against the sun setting quicker, it isn’t in the rest of our lives. What if we’re not supposed to simply accept the darkness that comes our way but what if we’re called to hold on to hope instead? The problem is that all too often we’ve been quick to accept the day turning into dusk in our own lives as we give up on the hope that is rightfully ours.

So how do you hold onto hope when day turns to dusk? How do we navigate Twilight?

The Dark:

Has the potential to grow your faith
Could be the greatest evidence of your faith you will ever give

Isaiah 30:15

You cannot simultaneously pity your life and trust in God.

Vulnerability gives us the ability to accept our circumstances and move forward.
Whining roots you so deep into your problems you’re not able to see past it.

Matthew 1:18-19

A couple questions to discern where you are:
  • How easily is your mood derailed by negative circumstances?
  • Do you spend more time thinking about your problems or what God has promised?
  • Do you believe in the idea of hope, or do you have hope?

PSALM 13
